Не нужно защищать полноту, ровно, как и худосочность, да и спортивную фигуру тоже. Можно лишь быть сторонником той или иной комплекции, стремиться к ней, но никак не утверждать, что та или иная точка зрения относительно внешности — единственно правильная. Защищать следует индивидуальность. И то состояние, в котором человеку комфортно: будь это 40 или 80 кг — главное, чтобы это не наносило вред здоровью и полноценному образу жизни.

Сегодня в рубрике «INSTAGRAM БОМБА» мы расскажем о фитнес-звезде @mynameisjessamyn, на счету которой более 100 тысяч подписчиков. Это не просто фанат йоги, а абсолютно особенная девушка. Джессамин Стэнли 27 лет, и её вес превышает возраст примерно в четыре раза. Не смотря на это, она квалифицированный инструктор йоги, йог со стажем и просто, цитата: «Счастливая толстая женщина».

During our photo expedition, @zoelitaker and I holed up in the local skate park and I felt a certain kinship with the skateboarders. Practicing for hours on end, just to feel the wind move across your skin and to take your own breath away. Just getting outside and doing something you love because you love it. Because it makes you feel good. With no other motive in mind. It's a crazy shift in thought from what we're taught should motivate us- usually, if we're not producing a tangible product, we can be unwilling to try new things or move our bodies in unexpected ways. Even though I'm adventurous in my yoga practice, I still see my old habits of backing away from new activities- it's actually a reminder that my practice is always a practice, never a perfect. That my old fears are still present. No, I'm not about to pick up skateboarding, but they definitely inspired me to keep stepping outside of my boxes. Day 21 of #SizeDoesntMatter is #DowndogSplit (#EkaPadaAdhoMukhaSvanasana). I always want to go deeper in this pose, but my hands always slide down my mat when I raise my extended leg. I can't tell you how many times I have face planted in pursuit of downdog splits, y'all. It would probably be embarrassing if I had even a shred of shame. Anyway, today I thought to turn my mat over- my @lululemon #yoga mat is reversible and the black side is excellent for hot yoga because the base layer uses the sweat your body produces to help stick you to the mat (It's called "The Mat" for those of you who are wondering). Anyway, I rarely think to flip my mat when I'm not practicing #hotyoga which is SO STUPID because I still get sweaty enough during my home practice to validate use of the second side.Using the second side, I was able to really dig in my hands to reach some of my deepest downdog splits ever. Day 14 of #SizeDoesntMatter is #ParivrttaParsvakonasana (#RevolvedSideAnglePose). This pose is pretty brutal for me- is it just me, or has this week of standing twists been wicked intense? Poses like this one & #RevolvedTrianglePose are some of my favorite undercover difficult poses, and I'm so thankful for them- my body is nearly always full of stuff that needs to be thoroughly wrung out. Yesterday, while innocently perusing Twitter (I'm @jessnotjazz over there, btw), I found an excellent article by @kathrynbudig titled "7 Things Your #Yoga Teacher Wants to Tell You" (If you're a yoga nerd, check out my Twitter feed for the link.) Anyway, one of her bullet points was "You don't have to practice yoga every day." Though totally obvious for a normal person, this was extremely comforting for me to read. Especially considering that my pursuit of summer fun (paired w/ my two jobs) can make it very difficult to practice as rigorously on a daily basis as I would prefer. Lots of y'all ask me "How often do you practice/What's your practice schedule/What time of day do you practice?" and my honest answer is always….I don't have a schedule. While I try to practice at least semi-daily, I'm usually just sneaking it in whenever I can- before work, after work, literally whenever. That's probably one of the best things about yoga- it's hard to make an excuse NOT to hit the mat when you can adapt your practice to any circumstance. Don't beat yourself up trying to maintain the same daily schedule. If you can fit in a 30 min. #hatha class at your local #ymca, DO IT. if you're sneaking in an hour of inversion work before bed, DO IT. If you have time to sweat out a 1.5hr @yogaglo class on a Saturday morning, DO IT. Making time for your practice is an act of self-love that should never be denied. Also, I need to show mad love to @kinoyoga. When I began practicing this particular pose (#kapotasana) ~a year ago, I didn't really start to see improvement until I watched a tutorial Kino posted on her YouTube channel. However, Kino says, "When the path is not illuminated it does not make sense to go further." She's absolutely right- it took a year of solid practice (check my older photos for progress shots), but gripping my ankles in this pose is a personal pay day that feels completely and utterly transformative.

Day 2 of #JoinTheFractal9Team Challenge is #camatkarasana (#wildthingpose) & the question: What's A Goal You're Currently Working Towards? I have a lot of goals, but my most fervent quests are usually non-physical achievements. Right now, I'm working on compassion. I constantly encounter people and businesses who give zero fucks about diversity and inclusion, especially within the #yoga community. I have pondered the reasons for this widespread discrimination and I think pondering is futile. I think it's more important to focus on being compassionate towards those who fear and dislike what they don't understand. Also, it's a better use of energy to support people and companies who DO give a fuck about diversity and inclusion. Finding the real definition of compassion when dealing with those whose opinions differ from my own is a daily battle, and it's a goal I intend to keep at the forefront of my priorities. Dear everyone (yes, ERRBODY) who has been trying to get in contact w/ me for the past 7-10 days, Obviously, I'm not dead. I have, however, been suffering from a pretty intense chest cold- my voice is still not at full caliber & i've basically only left my nyquil twilight sleep to drag my ass into work. I've barely left my bed, let alone rolled out my yoga mat- in the past few days, I've only been able to get on my mat once. I'm hopeful that tomorrow i'll be well enough to get back on my mat & start catching up on everything on my back burner. When I began practicing Yoga, I noticed that many instructors could be accidentally discriminatory against students with diverse body types. I created this series to encourage everyone to be comfortable in their own skin! In my EveryBody Yoga series on @codyapp I go through 4 instructional videos and 4 flow classes, and we’ll touch on everything from shoulder and hip opening to balance and core engagement. Larger-bodied people are just as capable of moving freely as a smaller-bodied person, and I believe that it is SO important to see a larger-bodied person completing postures and moving freely with confidence.
